Today I installed another WAMP on my other laptop, WAMP Server (ver 2.5).
This is yet another popular development environment that allows you to create web applications with Apache2, PHP and MySQL database.
But unfortunately I received the error below when I wanted to launch WAMP Server for the first time.
The program can’t start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
So, what is this MSVCR110.dll?
It is MicroSoft Visual C++ Redistributable dll that is needed for projects built with Visual Studio 2011.
How can you fix the error?
Go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679. Download and install “Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4” and put the WAMP Server online.
Check the color of the WAMP Server. If it is orange that is probably because Apache can not use port 80 since it is in use by another server like IIS (at least that was the case for me).
To fix this problem we need to change the port that Apache uses.
Open “Apache” -> “httpd.conf”
Edit the lines below:
— ServerName localhost:80 -> ServerName localhost:81
— Listen 0.0.0.0:80 -> Listen 0.0.0.0:81
— Listen [::0]:80 -> Listen [::0]:81
Save the configuration file and restart the WAMP Server.
If it is still orange and apache service is disabled run “services.msc”, find wampapache64 service and start it if not started already.
If you cannot see the wampapache64 service “The program can’t start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.” error might have corrupted the installation.
If this is the case reinstall the WAMP Server and edit the 3 lines above in “httpd.conf” again. Restart WAMP Server.
Now you should see the green WAMP Server icon.
Hope this helps.
