WAMP Server – 500 Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

If you are using WAMP Server as your local PHP development stack you might encounter this error. One of the possible reasons is, let me tell you straight away, that you have defined some rewrite rules in your .htaccess file and you don’t know the fact that mod_rewrite comes commented by default in WAMP Server.

What you need to do is pretty straightforward. Open httpd.conf in your favourite text editor.

Install_WAMP_for_WordPress_Part2_2

You can find httpd.conf under C:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.4.9\conf if you used the default installation directory for WAMP Server.

Now find the line that says #LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so and remove the # symbol from the beginning (uncomment this line).

Restart the WAMP Server. Now your local site should be up and running.

Hope this helps.
